First Mangosteen Flush Signals Bumper Orchard Season
Our canopy crops are thriving thanks to biochar amendments and stingless-bee pollination corridors.
The orchard team completed the first mangosteen flush harvest of 2025 with a sweetness index averaging 16.4° Brix — our highest since conversion to organic methods. The purple-hued fruits were cooled within 30 minutes at the new packhouse, preserving texture for our chef partners in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
What changed this season
Driver | Impact |
---|---|
Pollination corridors | Kelulut (stingless bee) hives flanking the contour alleys lifted pollination efficiency by 22%, giving fuller fruit set across the canopy. |
Seaweed compost teas | Weekly drenches brewed from seaweed and cocoa husks improved calcium uptake, keeping rind splitting below the 2% threshold. |
Biochar & coral sand | Orchard biochar charged with coral sand effluent boosted soil microbial activity by 36%, sustaining the trees through the dry spell. |
With 300 trees producing in phases, we will release weekly availability sheets for wholesale clients. Guests can join dawn harvest walks, taste the fruit straight from the grove, and learn how orchard revenue funds Borneo Reserve’s coral nurseries.
